Laptop Training Solutions (continued)

Laptop Training Solutions Update

The former owner of the Laptop Training Solutions has now decided to jump on board the forensic science craze (CSI is America's favorite TV show) and open up a school to teach the eager how to excel in that field. It is called the FORENSIC DATA ACQUISITION TRAINING INSTITUTE. They had a web site for a short time, but it seems to have been taken down. Stay tuned.

LTS Update - April 12, 2005

At least one ex-student has received his tuition money back (minus the cost of his laptop) from the BPPVE. He almost came out ahead on the deal as he had completed part of his course. Good news for LTS people. Hang on in there!

LTS Update - November 18, 2004

If you are an ex LTS student and you are wondering when you might see your money, the following update comes from attorney Doug Campion: "As to LTS, I have been told by the Bureau sometimes it takes two to six months to process the STRF refunds. But they cautioned that they haven't had a case before with the sheer numbers involved as with LTS and this case could take additional time to sort out all the issues. However, usually the lender will give the student at least a six month grace period in such a situation so the student doesn't have to make the payments in the interim. If that student is still making payments, have them contact their lender for a six month reprieve."

NEWSFLASH - September 24, 2004

One of the previously high profile computer training schools in San Diego has bitten the dust. In early September, Laptop Training Solutions hung up a sign at the school campus indicating that it is closed for a week, but it will not be reopening. Staff have been all laid off and the students' tuition money is in jeopardy. By September 24, another notice was posted admitting that that the school had filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and would not be reopening. See here for the notices that were at the San Diego offices.

This school is subject to a class action suit by students, which you can find out by contacting Doug Campion, Attorney, at 409 Camino Del Rio South Suite 303, San Diego, CA 92108 or phone (619) 299-2091. The class is yet to be certified, though it has more hope than many of the students who wanted to be certified as A+ or MCSE.

We spoke to some students outside the locked doors of the school and many of them are distraught about the abrupt termination of their education and the possible loss of their tuition. One student told us that rather than the Wonderlic test being administered under supervision in a time limited environment, she was given the test and told to take it home and complete it there!

The BPPVE set up an information desk at Laptop's Aero Drive campus on Thursday, September 30 to meet with students. They offered help getting school records and offer applications for tuition refunds through the state's tuition recovery program. Marti Emerald from KGTV Channel 10 organized this with the BPPVE and told us, "We should be there at about 10am with state staff to help students."

You can see Marti's story here.

Marti has been on the LTS trail for some time now, here is another story.
